Blog: my week in the news

Why is the news important to me? What did I learn this week?

I enjoyed learning about the news this week. I learned new things, like that businesses like restaurants can close down if not enough people go to them, and if they don’t make enough money. I love Italian food and I’ve been to a Jamie’s restaurant so it’s a shame they won’t be around any more and that lots of people will lose their jobs! This is important because if those people don’t earn money they will stop spending at other places and that means more places might close down. I love going out for dinner although we don’t go out very often! I also like takeaway food though, my favourite is sushi.

The craziest story of the week though was definitely about Mount Everest. I saw the photo of the huge queue of people waiting to climb to the summit, that is bonkers! It is so far away and so hard to get to but it is full of people! Why would you want to wait so long in a queue when it is so cold and you might die? I wouldn’t want to die in a queue. I think the people who organise the climbing trips should talk to each other more and should make sure that all the climbers don’t go up the mountain at once.

The worst story of the week though was about plastic rubbish being dumped in Malaysia and not recycled. I felt so sorry for all the animals who have to live in the jungle near where the plastic rubbish pile was found. Why can’t people stop making and using plastic, then there would be no more rubbish? I hate climate change. I wish I lived hundreds of years ago when there was no climate change to worry about. Except I would miss having an iPad if that was the case.
