Why is the news important to me? What did I learn this week?

This week has been filled with fascinating stories. Donald Trump is refusing to accept defeat and a new coronavirus vaccine has been developed that can prevent more than 90% of people from catching COVID-19.

Last week, it was announced that Joe Biden will be the new president but since then, Donald Trump has not been handling this well. I cannot believe Donald Trump has been tweeting about election fraud - Twitter even put an icon on his tweets to say that the claim is disputed   Personally, I think Donald Trump is just being a bit of a sore loser. Imagine what will happen on the inauguration day when he has to leave the White House!

The second story that I covered this week was about the new coronavirus vaccine being developed! This is such good news and something we have been waiting for a long time. Before, I had never even heard of the companies Pfizer and BioNTech and now, I suspect they will be very famous and everybody, even 10 year olds like me will have heard of them. I do wish all of these trials could be over so we can all have the vaccine and hopefully return to our old lives. I also hope that the vaccine is safe!

The story that I found most interesting this week was about a 100-year old message found by a carrier pigeon. It is amazing that this precious artefact has been discovered. Although, it is quite hard to believe that messages were sent via a pigeon and not a phone or a device. This just shows how much our world has developed. Have a good week everyone!
