12 April 2021 Blog: my week in the news

Welcome back to Newzkidz! I hope you have had a good spring break/ Easter holidays. This week we have had some terrible and unfortunate news. Prince Phillip, Prince Consort died on the 9th April this year at the age of 99. Prince Phillip had such a long, healthy life unlike the Queen’s father who died very young. He supported the Queen in her role for many many years and I am sure she must be devastated to lose him. He was a patron of many charities but I think that for children, he will be most remembered for the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. My sister is participating in the Junior Duke award scheme at our school and I am planning on participating in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme when I go to secondary school.

Another news story that I enjoyed this week was about a great scientific discovery in Egypt. They have found a lost city! This was one of the greatest discoveries since the finding of Tutankhamen’s body. I can’t believe there was a city that nobody knew about. This just tells us that there is still so much of the world we did not know about.
