10 June 2022 Blog: my week in the news

 This week my favourite news story was about the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. I think it is absolutely amazing that Queen Elizabeth has reigned for 70 years! I was even more surprised to learn that she wasn’t even expected to be queen when she was born! Her reign only came about because her uncle abdicated and as a result her father became the King so when he died, she became Queen! My favourite part of the celebrations was – everything! I did really love the skit she did with Paddington Bear!

It was interesting hearing about the vote of confidence in the UK Prime Minister’s leadership that was held earlier this week. Mr Johnson must be feeling very relieved with the result! If over half the Members of Parliament in his party voted against him, he would have had to step down!

I enjoyed learning about World Oceans Day too and reminding everyone how important it is to protect the health of our oceans!
