Why is the news important to me? What did I learn this week?

I really enjoyed this week's news, there were so many different and interesting stories. The Poet Laureate was my favourite one, I love the idea of the Queen having her own personal poet and wish I could have one too! I really like poetry, I didn't know about previous Poet Laureates so it was fun finding out more about William Wordsworth, I loved his Daffodils poem but it was hard to read. I also like lots of silly poems too! I think its great Simon Armitage wants to write about climate change and the environment, and also that scientists are working hard to fix these problems. Some of the things they are trying to do sound a bit crazy but I hope they work.

This week I also earned my Brownies Jobs Badge and for this I recorded a video about my dream job which is being an environmental scientist! I had the idea that if we could make plants and forests fire-resistant, they wouldn't burn if there was a forest fire. Maybe we could spray them with something that wouldn't hurt them but would stop flames from burning them? I wonder if anyone else has thought of this. I also want to grow fake food in my laboratory when I grow up - I really enjoyed learning about this recently.

It is amazing how many things scientists are able to do, and explorers too - it was great to hear about the deepest ever dive to the bottom of the Mariana trench! Wow! I wonder what it was like down there. It must have been very dark and scary.  I wonder when humans will explore every part of the earth and there will be nothing left to discover?
