8 September 2020 Blog: my week in the news

Welcome back to NewzKidz everyone! I hope you have all had a fantastic summer. I certainly did but it was unusual. Ever since I have lived in Dubai (and I have lived here a long time), I always travel to England for the summer holidays and this summer we had planned our usual trip and had also planned an exciting trip to Singapore. Unfortunately all the plans had to be cancelled. Still, it was nice to be out and about in Dubai especially after being stuck at home during a period of lockdown. Dubai has some amazing hotels and we really enjoyed them over the summer.

Lots has happened over the summer but really for me the biggest news is that I have been able to go back to school after a looooooong time of remote learning. I was so very pleased and excited to go back to school and once I was back, even though things were different, it felt like I had never been away! Things are different though and I am missing seeing some of my friends in the other year 6 classes as much as I used to before. We have to wear a mask all day as well – sometimes it does feel a bit uncomfortable but most of the time it is fine and I am so busy that I forget about it. We have to maintain social distance all the time and when my class (which is actually quite a small class) lines up, we fill the entire corridor as there has to be so much distance between us! I wonder how long things will have to remain like this?
