5 October 2020 Blog: my week in the news

This week we have covered some fascinating news stories from National Poetry Day to International Teachers’ Day.  However, the story that has been dominating the news has been about Donald Trump (the US president) testing positive for Coronavirus. I am always sorry to hear about anybody getting ill but this just goes to show that everybody needs to be really careful because anyone can get this virus even one of the most powerful men in the world. We need to continue wearing masks and maintaining those two metres of social distance.

Another important story from our podcast this week was also about President Trump. It was about the first presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. I watched a lot of this debate and frankly, I was not impressed! Both presidential candidates tried to put forward their points but actually ended up interrupting each other as if they were school boys fighting in the playground and hurling insults at each other. I couldn’t believe it!

Finally, it is International Teachers’ Day this week, which gives us an opportunity to appreciate our teachers and think about everything they do for us. All the NewzKidz are so lucky to have such amazing teachers!
