Why is the news important to me? What did I learn this week?

This week has been a devastating week for everyone. There has been a terrible escalation of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. It all started because Russia did not want Ukraine to join NATO. On 24th February, Russia invaded Ukraine. We are all worried for Ukraine and many countries have offered to take refugees and support towards Ukraine. It is heartbreaking reading the news at the moment and we are all praying that this conflict is resolved and does not continue to escalate and involve more and more countries!

On a positive note, this week many Covid restriction rules were changed and eased. In the UK, if you have covid, it is your choice to isolate if you want to. However, in Dubai, the exciting news is that close contacts no longer have to isolate if they are asymptomatic and we are now even allowed to take off our masks outdoors. Now, I am taking my mask off whenever I can when I am outdoors for freedom!

On the first Thursday of March, 3rd March, it was World Book Day in the UK. Lots of schools celebrated today by all dressing up as their favourite fictional character. In my school, we did a series of fun activities involving book characters and even a scavenger hunt in our English classes. I dressed up as Matilda for World Book Day. Did you dress up?
