Why is the news important to me? What did I learn this week?

This week there have been so many important occasions including World Mental Health Day and Ada Lovelace Day. When I heard about Ada Lovelace Day, I realised that women can do anything if they just have the right mind set. It is really hard to believe that before, women did not have the same rights as men and could not do half the things that men could do. I love learning maths but if I was born in the 1860s, I would have never got to experience learning about that amazing topic. I think that Ada Lovelace was a brave women to have a STEM career and she inspires me and lots of other girls that women can have STEM careers and can do anything that men can do.

However, although we are having these memorable events, the Coronavirus pandemic is still ongoing and the world is changing so quickly. Last year, everything was normal and children and adults could go to work or school casually without worrying about social distancing or wearing face masks. Even in January, Coronavirus was not such a big crisis and to think, I could not even say that word properly at that time and when Rose and I covered the story about the outbreak of a virus in Wuhan, I really didn’t think it would be affecting my life. So much has happened in this half of the year and I am sure that we would all like our old, normal lives back but for now this is our new normal life.   For now I am pleased that I am in Dubai where although cases are rising, everything has been managed very well and there have been strict rules in places since the beginning. I feel sad to hear or read about the situation in the UK.
