14th October Blog: my week in the news

Why is the news important to me? What did I learn this week?

This week we have covered some interesting topics but my favourite topic was about how Saturn has 20 more new moons and has now has more moons than Jupiter! This was a very good news story for me as I have been learning about the Solar System and the planets this term at school during my science lessons and science is one of my favourite lessons. I wonder what else is out there in space that has still not been discovered? Maybe one day I will grow up and discover something – can you be an astronaut and a teacher?

It was very interesting to learn about Mental Health Day. I didn’t know anything about Mental Health Day until now. It seems as if a lot of our news topics have been related to or are the things that we do in school as we celebrated Mental Health Day too this week at school by doing some yoga and mindfulness colouring. It was very relaxing!

I didn’t like the news story about Turkey invading Syria because it was very sad although it was interesting to learn about. I got a bit worried about whether World War III could start – I have been learning about evacuations during World War II in our English lessons as we are reading “Goodnight Mister Tom” and so I’ve been thinking a lot about wars!

Thank you for reading and please keep listening to our podcasts and let us know what you think of them.
