Why is the news important to me? What did I learn this week?

Hello everybody, I hope you had a great week! This week we had the big news of new green list countries in the UK. On Friday we were told the news that three more countries have been put on the green list: Singapore, Israel, Portugal. There have also been a couple of new additions to the red list: Maldives, Turkey and Nepal. I am happy that there have been some new additions to the green list although I wonder if people from the UK are also on the green list in those countries? What if the UK allows people from Singapore to come to the UK without quarantining but the same does not apply to people travelling from the UK to Singapore? That wouldn’t be fair would it? So many people went to the Maldives, during the spring break, so it is not a surprise that they have been demoted to the red list. I was hoping that the UAE would be put on the green list before the summer, but now the chances are low.

For me this has been the major news story of the week and I am very upset that the UAE has not been put on the green list. I just do not think it is fair that even though we have one of the highest numbers of Covid vaccinations here in the UAE and really high standards when it comes to everything being clean and disinfected, we are still on the red list and children like me are being separated from their grandparents in the UK. I miss the time that I could just go easily to England during the holidays.
