Why is the news important to me? What did I learn this week?

This week commemorates our one year anniversary for NewzKidz. I am still incredibly shocked that Rose and I have been working on Newzkidz for a year but it is amazing that we have published 40 podcasts in total! It makes me think about how much I have learned and how so much time has passed that it is very hard to remember what our first podcast news stories were about. Rose and I have enjoyed doing the podcast and we will keep on enjoying ourselves for a long time to come!  On the 12th of March, Rose and I are going to go to a restaurant to celebrate together.

Moving on to some bad news, this week we have been talking about the coronavirus and how it has been affecting our daily life.  I am glad that I do not live in Lombardy as the residents there are in quarantine.  In the UAE, the Ministry of Education and the KHDA (that is the authority that regulates schools) announced that spring break would start early and after the end of spring break, schools will be closed for two weeks and have to put in place distance learning arrangements. This is all due to the rapid spread of coronavirus. I find this very upsetting – I love school and I love meeting all my friends and teachers. Let’s hope this horrible virus stops spreading and we return to our normal lives. It has made me appreciate my normal life a lot.
